Pearl Islands

Just a 15 minute plane ride from Panama City lie the exotic Pearl Islands. The major attraction of this archipelago are its picturesque aqua waters, lush vegetation, fascinating marine life and lovely sparsely populated beaches.

First settled by the Spanish in the 16th century, thousands of pearls were found here including the 31 carat, 400 year old Peregrina pearl previously owned by Elizabeth Taylor, the Queen of Spain, a French Emperor and an English Queen.

The most well known island in the Archipelago is Contadora, home to many of Panama’s leading businessmen. The stories behind Contadora are interesting and varied, as the island was a veritable jet-setter hot spot between the 1960s and 1980s, many times serving as official venue for high profile international gatherings. Today, the Archipelago’s many other pristine and secluded islands are the new rising stars.

Some of the projects currently under development in the Las Perlas Archipelago include Isla Saboga, Viveros and the Pearl Island exclusive resort development on Isla Pedro Miguel.
